The Balmain Art & Craft show is home to one of the most exciting and established art exhibitions in Sydney's Inner West. Now in our 13th year, the 2008 line-up of talent will include a dynamic mix of contemporary work from a huge range of emerging and established artists and an impressive selection of Indigenous art.

Contemporary Art
We are proud this year to have 'Growth Plan' a work by the local Balmain artist Bruce Latimer as the feature image for the show. Bruce describes this compelling piece as a ‘Utopian Vision’ and his celebration of the beauty of the natural world despite human intrusion.
It also gives us great pleasure to exhibit and support many of Australia’s most impressive emerging artists. Included in that line up are April White, Carrie Sinclair, Ray Firth, Jenny Pry and Belinda Ward.
The listing on the left contains some of the artists who have committed to the Balmain Art and Craft Show for 2008. You can browse for brief biography's and examples/styles by clicking on each artists name.

Indigenous Art

Australian Indigenous art is now recognised in both Australia and overseas as one of the word's most exciting art movements. This sentiment is reflected in the interest and enthusiasm generated by the vast numbers of visitors to the Indigenous Art Gallery as part of the Balmain Art & Craft Show and also the numbers who patiently waited for Dr Garry Darby's seminars across the weekend.
Due to the overwhelming popularity of the Indigenous Art exhibited in 2007, the Indigenous Gallery for 2008 will have it's own dedicated space (Jane Street Campus). We are also pleased to announce that we will be exhibiting a huge range of art conveying 'The Black and White Story' this year. We also welcome back
Dr Garry Darby, who will talk on 'Desert Art - A Brief History' as well as 'The Diversity of Aboriginal Art'. For details on the Indigenous Gallery and Dr Garry Darby's talks please click here to access our specialist Indigenous section.
