Indigenous Art
As previously, the Indigenous Gallery will be located on Jane Street next to the historic former convent.
We are excited Tali Gallery is joining the Balmain Art & Craft Show this year. As a winner of both an Outstanding Business Award and Best in Sydney in 2011, Tali Gallery brings a wealth of experience and a diverse range of Indigenous Art which we are delighted to have access to.
Art and craft items including Hermannsburg Pots, Tjanpi Baskets, Pandanus Crafts (Fish Traps, Mats, Dilly Bags), Barks and Carvings from various art centres in Arnhemland including Maningrida, Limited Edition Prints and Etchings to name a few.
Tali is a family owned gallery established in 2009 by Di and Yhanni. Tali is committed to supporting Aboriginal owned Community Art Centres in order to maintain social and cultural traditions as well as to improve the standard and quality of life for Indigenous artists. They are also committed to supporting young and urban Indigenous artists with their career development as well as working with them to generate opportunities such as educational programs to promote understanding between our two cultures.
This year, we proudly welcome back...
* Mbantua: Mbantua specialise in art from Utopia in Central Australia and have developed a wonderful rapport with the traditional people of Utopia over the 20 years they have worked to promote Aboriginal art and culture.
* Waringarri Aboriginal Arts is a wholly aboriginal owned art centre specializing in contemporary collectable Indigenous art of the east Kimberley region. Waringarri will be exhibiting the popular 'boabs' pictures opposite.
