The beautiful landscapes of local artist Suey McEnnally entice with a richness of texture, line and mood. Mastering the luxurious medium of oil pastel, McEnnally covers the picture plane with sweeping gesture - building up layers and delineating space as she creates enormous energy across the surface.
The strength of her line recalls Japanese calligraphy and its simplicity, woodblock print. McEnnally is a current finalist in the 2005 Dobell Prize for Drawing, now hanging in the Art Gallery of NSW. A previous finalist in the Sulman Prize, AGNSW, Paddington Art Prize, and winner Eco Art Award 2002 and Peoples choice, Mosman Art Prize 2004.
